Calculating Items Acquired and Disposed for FFL Renewal

A Form 8 is the form ATF sends a licensee to renew their FFL. It is critical that these be timely filed as an expired FFL can not be renewed.

The numbers entered into Questions 7a and 7b should reflect the total number of firearms acquired (entered into your A&D Record) from any source and the total number of firearms disposed (disposed from your A&D Record) from any source over the past 3 years. The ATF is looking for a single total in both instances. The total should be for the FFL that is being renewed only, and exact numbers are preferred.

If you’ve switched to FastBound in the past 3 years, you will also need to include the items acquired in and disposed from your previous A&D record keeping process.

The Item search results in FastBound are limited to 1,000 results. If you have more than 1,000 results we recommend you calculate your number using smaller ranges and then adding them together.

For Total Acquisitions – Q7a

The total you will enter for Q7a will be the number of entries listed on your search results. In our example the number would be 255

For Total Dispositions – Q7b

The total you will enter for Q7b will be the number of entries listed on your search results. In our example the number would be 185
