NICS Direct only supports certain types of identification. The buyer’s identification in Q26.a must be entered in a specific way for the NICS Direct search endpoint to work correctly. If the ID is not entered in the format below, NICS Direct will return a “148: MNU is required for all transactions” error.

Below is a list of Identification Types and how they must be entered. If you cannot find what you’re looking for, or if you have questions about what to enter for your buyer’s ID. Please contact FastBound using the chat.

State Driver’s License

{state} DL – State Driver’s License

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation.

Example

Buyer’s Driver’s License is from Texas, enter “TX DL” into Q26.a.

State Identification Card

{state} ID – State non-driver’s license identification

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation.

Example

The buyer’s Identification card is from Florida, enter “FL ID” into Q26.a

State Commercial Driver’s License

{state} CDL – State Commercial Driver’s License

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation.

Example

The buyer’s Commercial Driver’s License is from Tennessee, enter “TN CDL” into Q26.a.

State Firearms Owner Identification Card

{state} FOID – Firearms Owner Identificaiton Card

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation.

Example: 

The buyer’s Firearms Owner Identification Card is from Illinois, enter “IL FOID” into Q26.a.

State Concealed Handgun License

There are many different names for a Concealed Handgun License. Use the one that works best for your state.

{state} CHL – State Concealed Handgun License

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation on the buyer’s ID.

Example

The buyer’s State Concealed Handgun License is from Colorado, enter “CO CHL” into Q26.a.

​{state} CWP – State Concealed Weapons Permit

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation on the buyer’s ID.

Example

The buyer’s State Concealed Weapons Permit is from Massachusetts, enter “MA CWP” into Q26.a.

{state} CCW – State Carry Concealed Weapon Permit

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation on the buyer’s ID.

Example

The buyer’s Carry Concealed Weapon Permit is from California, enter “CA CCW” into Q26.a.

{state} LTC – State License to Carry

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation on the buyer’s ID.

Example

The buyer’s State License to Carry is from Illinois, enter “IL LTC” into Q26.a.

{state} PP – State Pistol Permit

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation on the buyer’s ID.

Example

The buyer’s State Pistol Permit is from Alabama, enter “AL PP” into Q26.a.

{state} CCDW – Concealed Carry Deadly Weapons Permit

Replace {state} with the buyer’s two-digit state abbreviation on the buyer’s ID.

Example

The buyer’s State Concealed Carry Deadly Weapons Permit is from Kentucky, enter “KY CCDW”.

Enter “USG PP”

Air Force Identification Card

Enter “AF USG ID”
