Revised 4473, August 2023 Revision

The Revised Form will become mandatory for use on February 1, 2024. Please contact your local ATF Industry Operations office should you have any questions regarding the changes to the form.

Below are the changes that effected the way a 4473 is filled out in FastBound.

All pending 4473’s that were started and signed by the transferee/buyer prior to the new 4473 being released must be completed on the version the 4473 was started on.

  • Q19. If the transferee/buyer selects “United States of America (U.S.A.)”

    • Q20. Will be disabled.

    • Q21.m.2. Will be disabled.

  • Q19. If the transferee/buyer selects “Other Country/Countries (Specify)”

    • Q20. Is required.

    • Q21.m.2 Is required if “Yes” is selected in Q21.m.1.

  • Q21.b. Has been updated with the text.

  • Q21.l Must be answered.

  • If both Q21.m.1 and Q21.m.2 are answered “Yes” then Q26.d “Exception to the Nonimmigrant Alien Prohibition:” on the transferor/seller’s section is required.

  • Q21.n Has been updated with the text.

  • Q27.d Sentence changed from “and may be transferred on ___ (date)” to now read “Transfer of the firearm may occur on ___ (optional).”

    • If the “Notice of additional delay of transferee under 21 years of age” is selected the “Transfer of the firearm may occur on” date is no longer required.
