Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

Install Container Manager (Docker)

Note: The package formerly known as Docker in the Synology Package Center is now called Container Manager. The Container Manager package is developed and maintained by Docker.

  1. Log in to your Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) interface using your administrator credentials.

  2. Click on the Main Menu (usually represented by a grid icon) in the top-left corner.

  3. Select Package Center from the dropdown menu.

  4. In the Package Center, search for Container Manager.

  5. Click on the Container Manager package.

  6. Click the Install button and wait for the installation to complete.

  7. Once installed, open Container Manager by clicking Open in the Package Center or the Main Menu.

Prepare Folders for Configuration and Data

  1. From the DSM Main Menu, open File Station.

  2. Navigate to a location where you want to store your configuration file (i.e., /Public)

  3. Right-click and select Create > Folder and name the new folder FastBound

  4. In the new FastBound folder, create a folder named Config

  5. And a folder named Data

We used /Public/FastBound, but the config and data folders can reside anywhere on your DiskStation, even on different volumes. You can also store both configuration and data in the same folder.

  1. Launch Container Manager from the DSM Main Menu.

  2. Click on the Registry tab on the left sidebar.

  3. In the search bar, type fastbound, and press Enter to search Docker Hub.

  4. Locate the fastbound/ffl-bound-book-backup image in the search results.

  5. Click the image to select it and then click Download.

Create Container

  1. Click on Container.

  2. Click Create.

  3. Choose the fastbound/ffl-bound-book-backup image you just downloaded.

  4. Name the Container whatever you like or use the default.

  5. Click Next

  6. Click Volume Settings.

  7. Click Add Folder and choose the configuration folder you created earlier.

  8. Click Add Folder and choose the data folder you created earlier.

  9. Make sure the configuration folder is /config and the data folder is /data (case-sensitive).

  10. Set the network to host.

  11. Click Next.

  12. Check “Run this container after the wizard is finished” and click Done.

Configure FastBound Accounts

  1. Upon first start, the container will create a sample accounts.json file in your /config folder and then stop itself.

  2. Using File Station, use the Text Editor to edit the accounts.json file according to your FastBound account settings. You must remove/change the sample accounts or the container will stop itself.

  3. Save the accounts.json file and close the editor.

Restart the Container

  1. Navigate to the Container tab in Container Manager.

  2. Select the FastBound container and click Start.

  3. Click on the Log tab to confirm the container is running correctly.

Additional Tips

If a download fails, you will see a warning on the dashboard of that account in FastBound. Check your container logs and paste them into a chat with support for assistance.
