FastBound’s digital 4473 is the gold standard in firearms retail—used to process approximately 10% of all background checks in 2024, according to NSSF’s adjusted NICS figures. Bringing that same standard to your store requires a kiosk setup that is clean, reliable, and professional—one that shows buyers you respect their time.
Although other kiosk apps should work, FastBound specifically tests the Kioskifi app for compatibility. If you find another kiosk app that performs well with license barcode scanning, let us know.

iPad Stands: Secure, Professional, and Built for Accurate ID Scanning
While any stand should work, the stands we recommend are affordable and commercial-grade and support an optional ID holder card scanning tray, which enables quick scanning of ID. The holder is easy to install, durable. When paired together, they create a dedicated 4473 workstation—not just a tablet holder.
The ID scanning tray ensures:
-
Cards remain perfectly still
-
Cards are held at the exact angle and distance for optimal scanning
-
After confirming, 4473 fields are filled completely and correctly
-
Typos, reprints, and manual corrections are virtually eliminated
A professional stand and tray setup:
-
Prevents dropped, misplaced, or stolen devices
-
Keeps the iPad positioned and ready at all times
-
Delivers consistent, error-free customer experiences
PoE+ to USB-C Adapter: Power and Ethernet Through a Single USB-C Cable
A 4473 kiosk should operate like a register—always on and always connected. Dead iPads and Wi-Fi issues are completely preventable with the PoE+ to USB-C adapters.
To power and hardwire an iPad, you must use a PoE+ switch or PoE+ injector (802.3at), which can be located up to 100 meters away from the PoE+ to USB-C adapter installed at the kiosk.
These adapters deliver 25W, sufficient for all USB-C iPad models. The only difference is Gigabit or 10/100Mbps Ethernet network connectivity.
This setup ensures:
-
Continuous power (no battery failures)
-
Wired network reliability (no Wi-Fi dropouts)
-
Single-cable, tamper-resistant installation
Important: Not all PoE+ to USB-C adapters provide network connectivity. Many supply power only. To hardwire your kiosk for data, you must use a unit that delivers both power and Ethernet over USB-C.
If sourcing your own unit, read specifications carefully–be sure to verify that the one you choose supports data and not just power!
