1. Introduction
Once the customer has completed Section B of Form 4473, you can begin processing the background check in FastBound. You will complete all required steps to verify customer identification, perform the NICS Direct background check, capture signatures, and finalize the 4473 securely and compliantly. Before starting, ensure you are logged into FastBound and have the customer’s valid identification documents in hand.

2. Select The Customer
Select the customer to start processing the 4473.

3. Click “Search”
Click “Search” to find existing contacts or records related to the transaction.

4. Add as a new contact if Its a new Customer
If they are a new customer, add them as a new contact

5. Click “Create & Use”
Click “Create & Use” to save the contact information and apply it to the current transaction.

6. Click here to add ID infomration
Click here to enter the customer’s identification details.

7. Fill “TX DL”
Fill in the driver’s license field with the customer’s state-issued driver’s license information.

8. Go here

9. Fill “ID Number”
Fill in the required identification number with the customer’s valid ID number.

10. Click here

11. Enter the ID Experation Date
Enter the ID expiration date.

12. Click “Save”
Click “Save” to store the identification and customer information securely in the system.

13. Click “NICS Direct”
Click “NICS Direct” to initiate the National Instant Criminal Background Check System process.

14. Click the appropriate transaction type
Click the appropriate transaction type such as “Sale of hand gun,” “Sale of long gun,” or other relevant options to specify the nature of the sale.

15. Confirm the infomration is Corrrect
Fill in the response as “true” to confirm that the identification details match exactly as required.

16. Click “Yes”
Click “Yes” to process the NICS background check.

17. Click “OK”
Once you have received a Proceed response from NICS, you can continue finalizing the transaction in FastBound. At this stage, you will complete any remaining sections.

FastBound will automatically populate Section 27 A, B & C with the NICS details.

Once Section 27 is complete, the individual transferring the firearm must fill out Questions 34–36. In this step, the employee records their name, applies their digital signature, and enters the date the transfer occurred. This finalizes the transfer portion of the form and ensures the record is complete.

Click “Save” to store all entered information and signatures securely in the system.

25. Click “Generate TTSN”
Click “Generate TTSN” to create the transferor’s transaction serial number, if required for record-keeping purposes.

Click “Print” to produce a physical copy of the completed Form.

28. Click “Complete”
Once you have confirmed the total number of firearms, that the transaction is not a pawn redemption or private party transfer, and that the correct FFL information is entered, you can proceed to print the Form 4473.

Once you have viewed and printed the 4473 click “Yes” to confirm

31. Click “Complete”
To finalize the 4473, click “Complete.” This will create a pending disposition.

You have successfully processed a 4473 with NICS Direct, including all verification steps, signatures, the NICS background check, and printing the form.
