Network Attached Storage

A Network Attached Storage (NAS) device made by brands like Synology, QNAP, UGREEN, Asustor, TerraMaster, or Buffalo is the perfect solution for small to medium-sized businesses looking for an affordable, easy-to-use, and secure way to store and manage large amounts of data. Unlike full servers, NAS devices are cost-effective, require minimal IT expertise, and consume less power, making them ideal for non-technical users. Unlike cloud storage, a NAS gives you complete control over your data without ongoing subscription fees or privacy concerns. With features like automated backups, remote access, and data sharing, a NAS provides the best balance of convenience, reliability, and cost-efficiency for businesses that need a scalable storage solution.

FastBound and 4473 Cloud serve as the primary repositories for your ATF data. You must maintain daily local backups to comply with ATF Ruling 2016-1 for A&D records and ATF Ruling 2022-1 for digitally stored 4473s. Using NAS devices is an effective way to achieve these compliance requirements. Redundancy is less critical if your NAS only stores backup copies of your ATF records. However, considering redundancy levels and implementing proper backup procedures is crucial if you store other business records and data on your NAS. Ensure that your NAS configuration balances performance, security, and compliance to meet all your data management needs.

Generally speaking, the more drives your NAS has, the safer your data is:
