Colorado Firearms Dealer Forms Guide

Colorado firearms dealers must maintain specific state-issued forms for transaction logging and compliance. This guide covers:

  1. DR 7602 & DR 7603: Firearms Dealer Transaction Log

  2. DR 7606: Firearms Dealer Acquisition & Disposition Record

Each completed form must be retained for three years under Colorado Rule 3-110 (B)(1).

DR 7602 & DR 7603 — FIREARMS DEALER TRANSACTION LOG

PURPOSE & RETENTION

  • DR 7602 records the first two pistols or revolvers in a transaction.

  • DR 7603 is an overflow sheet for any additional pistols or revolvers.

  • Keep both forms 3 years from the transaction date.

GENERATING THE FORMS IN FASTBOUND

  1. Commit the disposition.

  2. After committing, FastBound presents the Disposition Receipt.

  3. Click Colorado DR 7602 (and DR 7603 if more than two pistols or revolvers).

  4. Review pre-filled data, enter any prompted items, then download or print.

    1. FastBound includes only pistols & revolvers; other item types are ignored.

FIELDS FILLED AUTOMATICALLY BY FASTBOUND

  • FFL Number: Account Owner → FFL

  • Colorado Dealer Permit #: Account Owner → Licensing (“Colorado Dealer Permit Number”)

FIELDS FASTBOUND PROMPTS FOR

  • Employee Completing Transaction – full name

  • Initials of Employee

  • Transaction Type – Sale, Rental, or Exchange

  • Buyer DOB – from Form 4473

  • Original Acquisition Date – Item Details → Acquire Date

ALWAYS-MANUAL FIELDS

  • Purchaser affirms they are 21 years or older

  • Purchaser Occupation

  • Firearm Finish (Blued, Stainless, Two-tone, etc.)

DR 7606 — FIREARMS DEALER ACQUISITION & DISPOSITION RECORD

PURPOSE & RETENTION

  • Logs a single pistol or revolver per sheet for either acquisition or disposition.

  • One form per handgun.

  • Retain for 3 years per Rule 3-110 (B)(1).

GENERATING THE FORM IN FASTBOUND

  1. Complete the acquisition or disposition.

  2. FastBound opens the corresponding Receipt page.

  3. Click Colorado DR 7606.

  4. Review, add prompted data, then download or print.

  • FFL Number: Account Owner → FFL

  • Colorado Firearm Dealer Permit Number – CFDPN of the FFL the item was acquired from (if applicable)

WHEN PRINTING FROM THE DISPOSITION RECEIPT PAGE

  • Colorado Firearm Dealer Permit Number – CFDPN of the FFL the item was disposed to (if applicable)

  • Type of Disposition – select one

  • Date of Receipt – item’s Acquire Date

  • Full Name / Address / FFL #: details of the source FFL, organization, or non-licensee

COMPLIANCE REMINDERS

  • Confirm your Colorado Dealer Permit Number is saved before first use.

  • Retain each DR 7606 for 3 years.

SAVING YOUR COLORADO DEALER PERMIT NUMBER IN FASTBOUND

Adding your Dealer Permit Number saves time and prevents missed fields on DR 7602/7603/7606.

  1. Open Contacts, expand Account Owner FFL, and select your Account Owner contact.

  2. In the Licensing panel click Add.

  3. In Create License:

    • Type – enter Colorado Dealer Permit Number (exact text).

    • Number – enter your permit number.

    • Expiration – leave blank or add a date.

    1. If blank, tick License Does Not Expire.

  4. Copy of File – optional.

  5. Click Save and Add.

Your permit number now auto-populates every Colorado state form generated in FastBound.
